Flower Mandala

Here's another one of my mandala paintings - I’m an artist as well as a gardener, so sometimes I'll share my art in this blog. Years ago I decide to make a flower painting in the form of a mandala, which is simply any design using a circle within a square. Since then I’ve painted and drawn many flower mandalas. Today I’m sharing the one that I call "Butterfly" because of the overall shape.

The center flower is a rose, but not the usual form - instead it's what's called a single rose. Wild roses have this form, but this one is a cultivated variety called 'Eyepaint.' I've painted it many times; a more realistic painting of it is below.
