My garden has always inspired my art, and at this time of year, when the tulips are blooming, it seems like a good time to share a couple of my favorite tulip paintings. Above is one I call "Visible Spectrum." It was painted from real-life tulips that I grew a few years ago.

If you're interested in growing tulips, read my blog post here. You have to start by ordering bulbs in summer, then you'll need to chill them and plant them in fall. This year Don and I planted 'Parrot King' tulips, and they're starting to bloom now, in late February. I've grown them before, and I've painted them, too, so below is another favorite of mine, a small 6" x 6" portrait of one perfect parrot.
